IGNORING THEIR OWN PROCEDURES, COPS BARGE INTO BERSIH’S OFFICE OVER PROTEST AT PARLIAMENT AGAINST REDELINEATION

PETALING JAYA – Two police officers went to Bersih 2.0’s office here today to record statements over the polls watchdog’s protest against the Election Commission’s (EC) redelineation report outside Parliament.

Bersih executive director Yap Swee Seng, who was at the office, said two personnel ― one in uniform and one in plainclothes ― arrived at the office at about 10am, seeking to record statements from him, Bersih 2.0 acting chairman Shahrul Aman Mohd Saari, secretariat member Mandeep Singh and Suaram coordinator Amir Abd Hadi.

He said the uniformed personnel introduced himself as ASP Adnan.

Yap said they were informed that they are investigated under Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act (PAA) 2012. The Act criminalises the failure to give a 10-day notice to the police before a gathering.

“It was pertaining the police permit of the rally,” he told the Malay Mail when contacted.

“There is a procedure to record statements, not just appearing at our office without prior notice and without our lawyer present,” he added.

Lawyer Eric Paulsen came and spoke to the police before it was decided that all four of them will go to Dang Wangi police station to record their statements on a date that is yet to be decided.

IGNORING THEIR OWN PROCEDURES, COPS BARGE INTO BERSIH’S OFFICE OVER PROTEST AT PARLIAMENT AGAINST REDELINEATION

Yap said the two personnel left the office about 11am after taking down Yap’s particulars.

“We condemn such a move by the police when we have always cooperated in any investigations. There was no need to turn up at our office like this,” he said, confirming that no documents or items were seized from the office.

On Wednesday, hundreds rallied outside the Parliament building against the tabling of the redelineation report in the Dewan Rakyat. The EC’s controversial proposal on the redrawing of electoral boundaries was passed the same day after less than three hours of debate.

Bersih 2.0 also submitted a memorandum on the redelineation report to Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia.

The EC’s proposed new voting boundaries came into effect yesterday after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong gave his assent.

INVOKE PATUHI SEMUA & PERATURAN DAN UNDANG2 – RAFIZI

CUBAAN MELUMPUHKAN OPERASI INVOKE, MENAKUTKAN SUKARELAWAN DAN FITNAH JAHAT NAIB KETUA PEMUDA UMNO DAN TV3
Selasa lalu (27 Mac 2018), Naib Ketua Pemuda Umno, Khairul Azwan Harun semasa berucap di Dewan Negara telah membuat beberapa fitnah jahat terhadap operasi INVOKE, seperti berikut:
https://www.facebook.com/BeritaTV3/videos/2140553322626504/

EXPERTS DEFY NAJIB, GIVE MAHATHIR THE ALL-CLEAR: HE’S NOT TOO OLD TO BE PM, OTHER PEOPLE MAYBE – BUT NOT DR M

Two of the three panellists at a forum to discuss if Dr Mahathir Mohamad is too old for the prime minister’s post agreed that the latter cannot be ruled out on this factor.

Fitness instructor Kevin Zahri Abdul Ghaffar and psychologist Dr Mat Saat Mohd Baki said although Mahathir would turn 93 in July, he appeared to be in good health.

However, another panelist, political analyst Kamarul Zaman Yusoff, disagreed.

He cited 10 criteria for a person to be the prime minister, and claimed that Mahathir only satisfied two.

The forum titled “Is Mahathir too old to be prime minister?” was organised by Malay daily Sinar Harian.

Mahathir gatecrashed the event in Shah Alam and in a Twitter posting said, “I am here guys. Say it to my face.”

‘MANY WITHIN UMNO ARE SECRETLY SUPPORTING MAHATHIR’: KEEP GLORIFYING YOURSELF AT DR M’S EXPENSE & KEDAH WILL BE THE FIRST TO FALL – UMNO ELDERS WARN NAJIB

KEDAH Barisan Nasional and Umno politicians should stop belittling Dr Mahathir Mohamad, especially if it wants to retain the state in the 14th general election, the party’s veterans warned.

They said the former prime minister is still highly respected in the northern state and many within Umno are secretly supporting him.

Mohd Hadzir Ismail, who is secretary of the state’s chapter of Former Elected Representatives Council (Mubarak), said Dr Mahathir’s influence in Kedah remains strong, namely among the Umno veterans.

“BN and Umno cannot take him lightly because he has influence with the old-timers,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

Hadzir also wondered why BN leaders are dismissing the contributions of the Kedah-born Dr Mahathir, who led Malaysia for 22 years.

“He developed Kedah, brought development to Langkawi, Bukit Kayu Hitam, the Kulim Hi-Tech Park. All that is his legacy.”

Hadzir, who was formerly Kedah Umno information chief, said older voters are openly pitching for Dr Mahathir, who is Pakatan Harapan’s choice for prime minister should the opposition capture Putrajaya in GE14.

“That is the reaction we are seeing in Kedah. They are openly declaring their support. There are also those who are supporting him quietly.

“Some say ‘wait and see’, but the situation is serious enough that I am saying Umno cannot underestimate Dr Mahathir’s influence.”

The warning comes even as Kedah Umno seems confident of keeping the state in BN’s control, disregarding the Dr Mahathir “threat”.

Dr Mahathir recently rebuked Prime Minister and Umno president Najib Razak for mocking his age, telling his one-time political protege not to be arrogant about his youth.

This was after the 64-year-old Najib had said no country in the world wanted a 93-year-old leader, and Malaysia would never achieve developed nation status under an old man.

BN’s chances are slim

Enraged by the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal and government’s silence on the episode, Dr Mahathir quit Umno in late February 2016.

He formed Bersatu with former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin and his son, Mukhriz, who was Kedah menteri besar from 2013 until he was ousted in early 2016.

He then took Bersatu into the PH pact, working with PKR, DAP and PAS splinter party Amanah.

In GE14, Bersatu and PKR will each contest six parliamentary seats in Kedah while Amanah will take on three.

Kedah PH is still negotiating the allocation of its 36 state seats. It has yet to settle four seats – Gurun, Kulim, Guar Chempedak and Pantai Merdeka.

Analysts largely think BN has a slim chance of retaining the state and parliamentary seats in Kedah because of the silent protests among its supporters.

Invoke, in its recent study, announced that PH could take Kedah with a 22-14 win. The think-tank also predicted that PH could capture 10 out of the 15 parliamentary seats.

There are about 1.2 million voters in Kedah, with 20% or close to 230,000 above the age of 60.

Former Pokok Sena Umno division committee member Ramly Chik said the veterans are not the only ones supportive of Dr Mahathir.

“The younger generation is with him, too. His influence among university students and the educated is strong,”   he said.

Internal revolt in Umno

Another Umno veteran, who only gave his name as Man, said the old-timers are angry at the party and BN for the way they are treating Dr Mahathir, a former party president.

He said Umno’s criticism against Dr Mahathir had gone overboard.

“Party veterans feel a sense of closeness with him, a statesman. They can’t take how Umno is treating him,” said the former teacher who was once an office-bearer in the party.

“An internal revolt is brewing. It is just that most do not want to come forward and admit it,” he said, citing the last revolt in 2008 that saw Kedah fall to the opposition for the first time.

“In the 2008 general election, BN lost due to sabotage by its own supporters. I can see it happening again,” he said.

BOMBSHELL – NAJIB USING BRIBES & SEX WORKERS TO ENTRAP PAKATAN LEADERS? UNSCRUPULOUS U.K. FIRM ADMITS ‘GHOSTING IN & GHOSTING OUT’ OF MALAYSIA TO HELP UMNO-BN WIN GE14 – REPORT

Meet the oh so pukka British company that has been helping Najib with his Malaysian election campaigns.

Today on UK TV’s Channel 4 News the people behind Cambridge Analytica admit (to a fake potential dirty client) the tactics they have used and are prepared to use.

They further boast that they have been operating in Malaysia.

TAKE A LOOK AND KEEP TUNED TO EXCLUSIVE REVELATIONS COMING UP ON SR

Revealed: Trump’s election consultants filmed saying they use bribes and sex workers to entrap politicians

Senior executives at Cambridge Analytica – the data company that credits itself with Donald Trump’s presidential victory – have been secretly filmed saying they could entrap politicians in compromising situations with bribes and Ukrainian sex workers.

In an undercover investigation by Channel 4 News, the company’s chief executive Alexander Nix said the British firm secretly campaigns in elections across the world. This includes operating through a web of shadowy front companies, or by using sub-contractors.

In one exchange, when asked about digging up material on political opponents, Mr Nix said they could “send some girls around to the candidate’s house”, adding that Ukrainian girls “are very beautiful, I find that works very well”.

In another he said: “We’ll offer a large amount of money to the candidate, to finance his campaign in exchange for land for instance, we’ll have the whole thing recorded, we’ll blank out the face of our guy and we post it on the Internet.”

Offering bribes to public officials is an offence under both the UK Bribery Act and the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Cambridge Analytica operates in the UK and is registered in the United States.

The admissions were filmed at a series of meetings at London hotels over four months, between November 2017 and January 2018. An undercover reporter for Channel 4 News posed as a fixer for a wealthy client hoping to get candidates elected in Sri Lanka.

Mr Nix told our reporter: “…we’re used to operating through different vehicles, in the shadows, and I look forward to building a very long-term and secretive relationship with you.”

Along with Mr Nix, the meetings also included Mark Turnbull, the managing director of CA Political Global, and the company’s chief data officer, Dr Alex Tayler.

Mr Turnbull described how, having obtained damaging material on opponents, Cambridge Analytica can discreetly push it onto social media and the internet.

He said: “… we just put information into the bloodstream of the internet, and then, and then watch it grow, give it a little push every now and again… like a remote control. It has to happen without anyone thinking, ‘that’s propaganda’, because the moment you think ‘that’s propaganda’, the next question is, ‘who’s put that out?’.”

Mr Nix also said: “…Many of our clients don’t want to be seen to be working with a foreign company… so often we set up, if we are working then we can set up fake IDs and websites, we can be students doing research projects attached to a university, we can be tourists, there’s so many options we can look at. I have lots of experience in this.”

In the meetings, the executives boasted that Cambridge Analytica and its parent company Strategic Communications Laboratories (SCL) had worked in more than two hundred elections across the world, including Nigeria, Kenya, the Czech Republic, India and Argentina.

The company is at the centre of a scandal over its role in the harvesting of more than 50 million Facebook profiles.

Chief executive Mr Nix has also been accused of misleading a parliamentary select committee, which is now asking him to provide further information. He has denied the allegations.

Tonight, a Cambridge Analytica spokesman said: “We entirely refute any allegation that Cambridge Analytica or any of its affiliates use entrapment, bribes, or so-called “honey-traps” for any purpose whatsoever… We routinely undertake conversations with prospective clients to try to tease out any unethical or illegal intentions…”

They said: “Cambridge Analytica does not use untrue material for any purpose.”

And they insisted that opposition research and intelligence gathering, the use of subcontractors and working discreetly with clients are all common practice and legitimate. – https://www.channel4.com

EXIT, DEFECTION OR SECRET PACT? THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS ‘CHANCE’ MEETING FOR SEASONED POLITICIANS LIKE SOI LEK & CHIN TONG

A chance meeting between Johor DAP chief Liew Chin Tong and former MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek has ignited speculation for one Chinese newspaper.

According to Oriental Daily today, which published a photograph depicting the duo at the meet, had insinuated that there were “secret discussions”.

“These are two influential politicians on opposing sides. What were they secretly discussing?” read the report.

Although the photograph was supposed to have been taken on March 9, the Oriental Daily report was published one day after Liew’s candidacy for Ayer Hitam was announced.

The incumbent Ayer Hitam MP is MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong. It is widely known that Chua and Wee have been on and off rivals in MCA since 2008.

When contacted, an irate Chua stressed that it was a chance meeting in Kluang and there was nothing political about it. Liew is the current Kluang MP.

“We were both attending different functions. What’s wrong with political friends exchanging pleasantries?” asked Chua.

When contacted, Liew confirmed it was a chance meeting but refused to comment further.

IGNORE AT YOUR FUTURE PERIL: PAKATAN WARNS PANDIKAR AGAINST ‘ILLEGAL’ TABLING OF EC REPORT

DAP lawmakers today cautioned Dewan Rakyat Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia against tabling the Election Commission’s (EC) electoral constituency redelineation report in Parliament.

Beruas MP Ngeh Koo Ham said this is because the Penang state government had filed a motion for a leave to appeal against the electoral boundary change exercise, with eight questions of law posed, in the Federal Court.

“There is a pending court case. It will be wrong for the speaker to allow the report to be tabled,” Ngeh told a press conference in Parliament today.

Last Friday, the Penang state government sought leave from the apex court to challenge the EC’s exercise, after it was dismissed by the Court of Appeal.

In filing the motion, the state government’s lawyer Leong Cheok Keng said Parliament should not discuss questions regarding the redelineation report as it would be sub judice (under judicial consideration).

IGNORE AT YOUR FUTURE PERIL: PAKATAN WARNS PANDIKAR AGAINST ‘ILLEGAL’ TABLING OF EC REPORT

The EC submitted its report to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak on March 9, without completing its hearing on objections during local inquiries.

Meanwhile, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang said the EC had hastily completed the report to be passed to the prime minister.

“The Parliament cannot become a rubber stamp (to pass reports). It should take time to study and take a position,” Lim said during the same press conference.

The Gelang Patah MP further urged a parliamentary select committee to be established to study the report and suggested it be given at least four weeks to scrutinise it.

The EC’s report is expected to be tabled in Parliament this Thursday.

UMNO CAN COLLAPSE, EVEN LOSE GE14 BUT JHO LOW MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS – RAIS YATIM TAKES ANOTHER SWIPE AT NAJIB

Controversial businessperson Jho Low seems to have become more important than Umno or the government’s accountability, said former information minister Rais Yatim.

“Looks like the issue of whether ‘can reprimand or not’ and ‘can investigate or not’ is still a polemic.

“If it is like this, Low appears to be more important than Umno or the government’s accountability.

“Likely this is what Jasa (Special Affairs Department) and its officers want,” Rais, who is now special adviser to the government, said in a posting on his Twitter account today.

He has recently been exchanging barbs with several Umno ministers as well as Jasa advisory panel member Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz over the 1MDB-linked Low (photo).

Rais had previously tweeted about the apparent support shown by certain quarters for Low, prompting Tun Faisal to say that “persons with ministerial rank” should use “proper channels” to air their grievances or quit their positions.

A special adviser to the government holds the same rank as a minister.

Rais replied that he would only quit his position if the prime minister asks him to do so and not upon the urging of a “stooge”.

Aside from Tun Faisal, Rais had also panned Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak earlier this month for defending Low and labelling reports about his ownership of mega-yacht Equanimity as “fake news”.

UMNO CAN COLLAPSE, EVEN LOSE GE14 BUT JHO LOW MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS – RAIS YATIM TAKES ANOTHER SWIPE AT NAJIB

Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Aziz also entered the fray when he criticised Rais and former minister Rafidah Aziz for speaking out on 1MDB, claiming they harboured a grudge against the current government for being dropped as ministers.

The US Department of Justice is seeking to seize US$1.7 billion in assets it claimed were acquired using the stolen money.

1MDB has denied any misappropriation of its money while the government and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak have consistently denied any wrongdoing.

1MDB transactions are being probed in at least six different countries, with individuals from several foreign banks already being convicted.

‘MH370 RIDDLED WITH BULLET HOLES – THIS IS WHY U.S. DOESN’T WANT IT TO BE FOUND’: AUSSIE EXPERT CLAIMS HE HAS FOUND DOOMED PLANE ON GOOGLE EARTH

PETALING JAYA – An Australian amateur expert in air crash investigations claims to have found missing MH370 on Google Earth four years after its disappearance.

The flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing was carrying 239 people when it vanished on March 8, 2014.

Peter McMahon, an Australian mechanical engineer who claims to have worked in crash investigations for more than 25 years, has insisted he has discovered the plane, the Daily Star Online reported today.

No official statements had been issued on this claim.

The 64-year-old McMahon said he went through NASA and Google Maps images since the plane disappeared. He has zeroed in on a location 16km south of Round Island, a small islet north of Mauritius .

“Four Americans were sent to Australia to oversee the findings of MH370,” McMahon was reported by the portal as saying. “They have made sure that all information received has been hidden from the public, even our government – but why?”

McMahon also made an astonishing claim. He said the plane is riddled with bullet holes. He said authorities “do not want it found as it’s full of bullet holes, finding it will only open another inquiry”.

The Daily Mirror also carried the report with screenshots allegedly taken of the plane on Google earth. In one screenshot, the outline of what appears to be an aircraft is visible below the water’s surface.

The disappearance of the Boeing 777 passenger jetliner, which has since been dubbed the world’s greatest aviation mystery, continues to baffle aviation experts as major search operations to locate it have drawn a blank.

Since early this year, no concrete evidence has been uncovered from the latest search operation, this one conducted by a United States-based seabed exploration company, which was given an official mandate to locate the debris of the missing aircraft, as it scours a search area of over 16,000km².

So far, only three confirmed fragments of MH370 have been found on the western shores of the Indian Ocean, including a two-metre wing component known as a flaperon.
